Ricardo Mbarkho is an artist and founder of the Lebanese National Tabbouleh Day (JNLT) in 2001, a project in the form of an annual celebration around Lebanese cuisine. He was Deputy Director of the School of Visual Arts in Beirut from 2013 to 2016. In 2007 the Lebanese Ministry of Tourism granted its official patronage to the Lebanese National Tabbouleh Day. In his work the artist explores language and communication in a geopolitical and socio-political environment that he uses as a de-aestheticsized medium. Today, the JNLT is celebrated by millions of people around the world, privately or publicly, or mentally as a state of mind. This work does not stem from a contemporary tradition of art, but from an approach that succeeds the aesthetics of information, communication and relationality.
