Director of Ecole nationale d’art (ENDA) and Biennale de Paris. Alexandre Gurita is an artist whose practice is of an invisual nature. He uses formats other than the artwork in order to modify conventional art. He considers the system of art as a working material.
Alexandre Gurita originated the term “invisual” which he formulated in 2004 and which designates a genre of art freed from the format of the work of art. In this format of rupture the framework of art is broader than that of the work of art, which is therefore only one format among numerous others. By relativizing art, practice of an invisual nature brings about a paradigm shift in the sector. Gurita is a graduate of ENSBA (Ecole nationale supérieure des beaux-arts de Paris).
