Session XXVI

From November 19, 2026 to June 25, 2027

Introduction

ENDA (National school of art of Paris) is the only research school in the arts in the world.

An institution of the Paris Biennale, ENDA continues the legacy of major experimental institutions such as Bauhaus College and Black Mountain College.

The school offers a research program that enables researchers to free themselves from conventions inherited from 20th-century art and to explore the transformations of art in the 21st century.

At ENDA, art is not only studied: it is rethought, experimented with, and transformed.

An artistic approach free from ideological frameworks

ENDA has its own pedagogical standards, methodologies, and research tools, for which there is no equivalent either in higher art education in France or internationally.

One of the school’s major characteristics is its view that the ecosystem of artistic practice is an integral part of the practice itself.

Thus, alongside their artistic research, researchers develop:
– their economic model;
– their strategy;
– the ecological, political, multimodal, and terminological dimensions of their practice.

Another distinctive feature of ENDA is collective intelligence, which allows researchers to experiment with unprecedented forms of collaboration and thinking that are impossible to develop alone. Researchers augment one another.

What ENDA enables you to do

The program notably allows you to:

  • free yourself from the automatisms and conditioning of the art world;
  • develop a singular artistic practice;
  • build an economic model independent from the art market;
  • develop a critical and self-critical mindset;
  • bring forth your ability to act and think for yourself;
  • create your own ecosystem for growth and fulfillment;
  • experiment with subversive artistic practices.

Eligibility

No degree is required.

The program is open to anyone aged 18 and over, with no upper age limit.

ENDA is not reserved for artists: it is open to people from all professional backgrounds.

Research groups are intentionally very heterogeneous in order to encourage the confrontation of experiences, paths, and points of view.

Program structure

The program runs over one academic year, called a session, and can be followed alongside professional activity or other studies.

Theoretical and practical work modules take place on Thursdays and Fridays.

The working languages are French and occasionally English.

ENDA is a liquid school: sessions move from one location to another, mainly in Paris and sometimes in the Paris region (museums, associations, art galleries, art centers, embassies, basements, apartments, etc.).

Each year, international group trips are organized to highlight the researchers, their projects, and their vision of art (New York, Beirut, Berlin, Sicily…).

Admission

Motivation is the decisive admission criterion.

Diploma

At the end of the session, ENDA awards the DNREA (National Diploma of Research and Experimentation in the Arts).

Cost

Application fee: €50
Tuition fee: €3,000 for the session.

Tuition fees may be paid in installments, and adjustments are possible depending on the applicant’s situation.

Scholarship

ENDA awards two research and experimentation scholarships per session.

Residencies

ENDA offers two two-month residencies per year in Italy, in an exceptional location. Selected residents can finalize and structure their annual project there following the end of the session.

Participation in the Paris Biennale and its ecosystem

Researchers who have completed their annual project are invited to participate in the Paris Biennale, in Paris or in its decentralizations around the world (United States, Thailand, Japan, Lebanon, Italy, Germany…). They are also invited to take part in projects and institutions within the Biennale’s ecosystem (art collections, workshops, forums, conferences…).

Application

Applications are processed on a rolling basis.
As the number of places is limited, it is recommended to apply as early as possible.

Application deadline: April 15, 2026
